...brought to you by Teachers Credit Union and Thomas R Birnie & Sons
Currently midday host 9-2 at 102.9 K-Lite FM radio in Hamilton.
Last of the original announce staff still on the air from day one
when the signal went on the air 6 October 1986.
Fascinating, right? Movin' on.
Earlier 1986 was working for sister station 1150 CKOC
doing the Top 40 "platter-chatter".
Wait, it gets better...
Fall 1981 - January 1986 worked at FM108 radio in Burlington,
the original "Gold & Great" revival signal
hammering out the 50's & 60's graffiti trail mix with great joy and fun.
1984 & 1985 Peter was a track announcer at Mosport raceway
"Just nawth o' Baum'nville" at Moss corner #5.
He sat in the dirt with a clipboard, microphone and headphones
scoping out and reporting on the racers for CanAm & TransAm weekends,
as well as dodging the occasional tomato
thrown by drunken fans behind him.
1981 Peter was Promotion Manager, Music Director
and on-air at CJBQ Belleville,
lovin' the town and also digging the gorgeous beaches
around Prince Edward County.
It was a great fun time, and an amazing summer.
1985 & 1986 Peter worked for Global Television
as "voice-over-credit" announcer (done live back then!)
and promotional production voice.
It turned out to be a most rewarding time that opened
a whole new perspective
on Television techniques and voicing styles.
Freelance work has been a rewarding sideline experience for Peter,
dating back to 1979 with work for "for-profit" clients
such as Ford Motor Company of Canada, Dofasco Steel,
Going Fishing Television, Lafarge Concrete Inc.,
International Harvester (Navistar), Westinghouse Canada,
This Week In Bible Prophecy Int'l., TreStelle Cheese,
Weedman, NuGro Agricultural,
Young Drivers of Canada...and hundreds more.
Charity work has been an ongoing privelege for Pete dating back to 1979
with work for charities like the United Way, Canadian Cancer Society,
The Lung Association (board advisor), The MS Society,
Neighbor to Neighbor support services, and more.
Pete served 10 years with The Friends of The Hamilton Children's Museum,
including one term as President.
Personal Appearances and hosting duties have
numbered in the hundreds over the years including
career day motivational talks at schools
and a fun semester of teaching at
Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology (Pete's Alma Mater)
with eager advertising students in their radio production credit course.
