TRAFFIC AND PARKING ADVISORY DURING THE BELL CANADIAN OPEN
If you are planning on going to or being around the RBC Canadian Open Golf Tournament in Oakville next week, Halton Regional Police Service has issued this information:
The Halton Regional Police Service would like to advise local residents and commuters of traffic and parking issues that will affect members of the general public during the RBC Canadian Open Golf Tournament at Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville the week of July 21-27. All traffic restrictions and closures are necessary to ensure public safety.
- Traffic Restrictions The northbound lanes of Dorval Drive from Leewood Drive to Fairway Hills Boulevard will be closed daily from Monday July 21 through Sunday July 27 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Southbound lanes will be utilized for both directions of vehicle traffic.
- The eastbound (curb lane) of Upper Middle Road from Dorval Drive to the Smith-Triller Viaduct will be closed daily from Monday July 21 through Sunday July 27 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sidewalk Closure The pedestrian sidewalk on the south side of Upper Middle Road from Dorval Drive to the east side of the Smith-Triller Viaduct will be closed 24 hours a day for the full week.
- Parking Parking on residential streets near Glen Abbey Golf Course will be restricted for the full week. Town of Oakville staff will be placing the appropriate signage and Bylaw Officers will be on duty monitoring the parking situation in the residential areas. Violators are warned that they may be ticketed or have their vehicle towed.
- Those attending the golf tournament are asked to use the spectator public parking area on the east side of the Third Line just north of Dundas Street. Shuttle buses will transport spectators to and from the golf course.
- Traffic delays can be expected on all streets in the area particularly Dorval Drive from the North Service to Upper Middle Road, Neyagawa Boulevard from Upper Middle Road to Burnhamthorpe Road, Upper Middle Road from Bronte Road to Neyagawa Boulevard and Dundas Street from Trafalgar Road to Bronte Road.
- The major delays along Dundas Street can be expected to affect the morning and afternoon rush hours. Commuters who use Dundas Street to pass through Oakville are asked to consider using alternate routes such as the Queen Elizabeth Way or the 407.
- Motorists are asked to be patient and extra vigilant if driving along these routes. Please obey all signage and be cognizant of all pedestrians and those police officers directing traffic.
