The Stanley Cup!!

Ok so since I wasn't able to cheer on the blue and white leafs during the playoffs I was more than happy to cheer for the red and white....wings...the Detroit Red Wings!!  Why you say???  Well I grew up in a small town north of us called Shelburne (Hwy 10 & 89) and went to school with NHL hockey player Aaron Downey.  If you're a fan of hockey than you already know Aaron won the Stanley Cup with the Red Wings earlier this month and as you know all players get to take the Cup to their hometowns for 24 hours.  So yesterday was Aaron's day in Shelburne / Honeywood.  There was a parade in both towns and a huge outdoor party in Honeywood where fans got the chance to meet Aaron get an autograph and get their picture taken with him and the Cup.  My friend Karen and I got the chance to bypass the ginormous line (felt really bad for the people waiting in line) and get our picture taken with him.  I'll post the picture tomorrow.  I'm so happy to say that Aaron has held on to his hometown attitude, he's extremely modest and a NICE NICE guy!!!!  The town of Honeywood even declared June 29th Aaron Downey day!!!  Yayy!!!!
