Watermain Break on James Street

The Public Works Department is making repairs to a water main break on James Street between Wood Street and Macaulay Street. Work is commencing to repair the break immediately. It is anticipated that this work will be completed after 6:00 p.m. today.

In order to perform the work, James Street will be closed between Wood and Picton Streets. The HSR will be re-routing buses around the work via Wood Street East, Hughson Street North and Picton Street East. Water distribution to residents in this area will not be affected.

TRAFFIC AND PARKING ADVISORY DURING THE BELL CANADIAN OPEN

If you are planning on going to or being around the RBC Canadian Open Golf Tournament in Oakville next week, Halton Regional Police Service has issued this information:

The Halton Regional Police Service would like to advise local residents and commuters of traffic and parking issues that will affect members of the general public during the RBC Canadian Open Golf Tournament at Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville the week of July 21-27. All traffic restrictions and closures are necessary to ensure public safety.

Interesting Baby Names

Is it just me, or are the celebrities in Hollywood coming up with different or uncommon names for their new babies??? There has been a number of ‘Hollywood' newborns and some of them have interesting names!

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban - Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's Daughter. The star couple's daughter takes her first name from Sunday Reed -- an early 20th-century artist's muse -- and her middle name from Urban's late grandmother, Rose.
Levi Alves McConaughey - Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend Camila Alves named their son Levi because it was another name for the apostle Matthew in the Bible. They were, in fact, two names for the same person.
Honor Marie Warren - Jessica Alba's daughter
Maddie Briann Aldridge - Jamie Lynn Spears daughter

She picked the snow boarder Jesse! I like Jess, think he's great, but I was convinced that she was going to pick Jason! If I had my choice, I would have picked Jeremy.

Possible Skyway Closure this weekend

Weather permitting, the Ministry of Transportation will be closing all of the Niagara Bound lanes of the QEW over the Burlington Skyway Bridge for maintenance:

Friday June 27 (Tonight) from 10pm till 10am Saturday morning and

Saturday June 28 from 8pm till 8am Sunday Morning.

DETOUR -- via Northshore Blvd to Eastport Dr and over the Lift Bridge

Weather permitting, Lakeshore Road Hamilton-Bound will be closed at Eastport Dr on:

Friday June 27 (Tonight) from 10pm - till 10am Saturday Morning and

Saturday June 28 from 8pm - till 8am Sunday Morning.

Canadian Idol Results

If you missed Canadian Idol last night, 4 of the top 24 contestants were sent home. Canada voted, and Tetiana Ostapowych of Toronto, ON, Lindsay Barr of Halifax, NS, Lindsay Robins of Montreal, QC, and Shaun Francisco of Vancouver, BC were sent home.

The good news though..... Hamilton's Ryan Castelli is still in the running!

Maybe we will have 2 Canadian Idols from Hamilton!!!???

New Construction Closures in Hamilton

A note from the City of Hamilton..... expect delays due to the following closures:

Public Works also reminds the community that the following roads will be completely closed (except to adjacent residents) on Monday, June 24rd

at 9:00am as work begins to reconstruct Mountain Brow Boulevard from Upper Ottawa Street to Oakcrest Drive, reconstruct the Kenilworth Access from Mountain Brow Boulevard to the Sherman Access and resurface the Sherman Access from Charlton Avenue to 500 metres easterly:

Mountain Brow Blvd. from Upper Ottawa Street to Oakcrest Drive
Kenilworth Access from the Sherman Access to Mountain Brow Blvd.
Sherman Access from Charlton Avenue to the Sherman Cut

In order to complete this work quickly and safely, these roads must be closed between June 23rd to August 30th, 2008. During this period, the Sherman Access from the Sherman Cut to the Kenilworth Access will function as full-time, two-way traffic (morning and afternoon one-way operation will be suspended).
