Album Review

Raven's 2009 two-fer combines Linda Ronstadt's first two albums in their entirety, adding a bonus track of her 1970 non-LP single "(She's A) Very Lovely Woman." That Emitt Rhodes nugget is the primary enticement for Ronstadt collectors, as it did not show up on Capitol's 2006 two-disc collection The Best of Linda Ronstadt: The Capitol Years, which otherwise rounded up every cut from her first four albums, naturally including the two albums featured here. That disc may offer twice as much early Linda, but taken on its own terms, this two-fer of Hand Sown...Home Grown and Silk Purse is attractively packaged and very enjoyable.
