Album Review

Originally released in 2007 as a double disc by Rhino, The Very Best of Chicago celebrates the veteran band's 40th anniversary. This single-disc version of that same collection was released a year later in conjunction with Hallmark and contains the majority of their best known hits primarily from their 1970s and '80s heyday, though the inclusion of two late-period cuts from 2006 ("Love Will Come Back" and "Feel") make this worthy of its 40th anniversary name. Longtime fans will already own most of these songs, but as a highlight reel, this collection serves as a solid introduction to Chicago's trademark "rock and roll band with horns" sound.
