The great trumpeter Charlie Shavers is in typically fiery form on this long-out-of-print LP. The dozen songs all have something to do with France and include such numbers as "C'est Si Bon," "Song From Moulin Rouge," "Petite Fleur" and "I Love Paris." Shavers and his unidentified quartet (which includes pianist Ray Bryant, bassist Aaron Bell and drummer Oliver Jackson) sound fine even if their interpretations are often quite brief. This set will be difficult to find, but it does have some heated moments.
