In memory of Ken and Mary Davino

Dedicated to family and community, this hard-working and inspirational couple enjoyed long and fulfilling careers at Stelco and the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board, volunteering their time to walk in CAPS’s fall event. When both were later diagnosed with cancer, CAP became vital for their dignity and care. They would be thrilled that even today, they can help raise money for a great cause.

The Cancer Assistance Program ( CAP ) is a community volunteer based organization servicing Hamilton and surrounding area. CAP is a non-profit organization that receives no government funding but relies solely on community support through donations, fundraising,  and memorials. CAP was built on an identified need, the need of cancer patients and their families.C.A.P works closely with other community groups including churches, media, clubs, businesses and schools to ensure our message of service is delivered. We work with other health agencies’, and other care providers to enhance not duplicate service. The Cancer Assistance Program has provided assistance to thousands of cancer patients in the community and has had an annual growth rate of more than 60%. Through Patient Services Program, CAP is able to assist the cancer patient and their families by providing transportation to clinic and medical appointments, as well as, the loan of equipment free of charge. All of our equipment is maintained by our volunteers. We strive to give our patients exactly what they need and suited to their needs. Our volunteers clean, fix and adjust all of the equipment that is returned to us.
