An Evening with Oprah!!!!

Posted By: Aiko Iwashita · 4/15/2013 10:51:00 AM

From welcoming two ladies who flew in from Newfoundland to saying she was tweeting with the hashtag #NoSpringInHamilton …. Oprah captivated the entire audience including myself as she talked for well over an hour and then another half hour as she sat down with George Stromboloposis, who is now the person who has interview Oprah the most, surpassing Barbara Walters.  George has being touring with Oprah's Canadian dates, conducting an interview style intimate sit down.

Here are the few things that I really soaked in and walked away with ... The Devine, The Thread and The Whisper ... things all based on our own intuition and truly taking each step in our life knowing that it's preparing us for things to come.

I saw some lady with a pen and a notepad and I thought that’s a great idea, Oprah talked continuously and in such depth that it was a ...

Posted By: Aiko Iwashita · 3/21/2013 9:32:00 AM

The Kraft Hockey Goes On contest is now on with 100 finalists across Canada competing to win $1 million for their hockey club.

All finalists are people who volunteer their time for their hockey club so kids can have the best opportunities playing the sport they love but it’s all up to the public vote.  You can start voting online as of March 23 from 9am until midnight.

A local hockey club needs our votes!!  Vote for Burlington’s John the "Manager Extraordinaire" of the Major Atom A Burlington Bulldogs.  John is said to be the heart and soul of the team! He is the epitome of a true sports fan. He lives, eats, and breathes Bulldogs!  People can't believe that John ever has time to do his day job, given that he seems to give every hour of his day to this team. They won the Alliance provincials last year and John surprised the boys ...

Disney on Ice better than ever!!!!

Posted By: Aiko Iwashita · 3/15/2013 10:07:00 AM

If you're thinking of going to see Disney on Ice Treasure Trove at Copps Coliseum ... stop thinking and go see it!!

I took my friend Wendy and her two girls (5 & 3) last night and I gotta say we were all so impressed with the show.  I've seen a few other Disney on Ice shows and I have to say this one was my favourite.  I loved how they incorporated all the classic Disney characters.  The best part of the show had to be the performers, man they can skate, so talented!!  And the visuals, wow, the costume and set designs were impressive, we did a lot of "oohs and ahhhs" through out the show.

I'm not sure if I was allowed to take pictures of the show ... but I did, sorry in advance!!

Show times at Copps Coliseum:

Today: 2pm & 7pm

Sat: 11am, 3pm, 6:30pm

Sun: 11am, ...

If you don't currently subscribe to the National Geographic channel go get it!

Are you a fan of the 80's, then you won't want to miss out on the upcoming miniseries The ‘80s: The Decade That Made Us. It'll be a 6 part series shown over 3 consecutive nights beginning April 14 .... narrated by Rob Lowe ;)

According to National Geographic, “Rob Lowe represents the best of this particular project in that he can reflect knowingly on the 1980s because he was part of it, but also he is part of our contemporary culture and that’s what this series is all about. It’s not just a look back into the past, it’s really a look at how the past has shaped our contemporary life.”

I hope they show him on this series ... because he's ....well .... he's HOT!! LOL!!!

A final goodbye from a Canadian icon.

Posted By: Aiko Iwashita · 3/7/2013 9:51:00 AM

How many memories do you have stompin your feet, hanging out with great friends and singing along to The Hockey Song!  Countless I bet.  We lost a cultural icon yesterday, Stompin' Tom Connors passed away at the age of 77.  He knew that his health was declining so he wrote a note to his fans:

Hello friends, I want all my fans, past, present, or future, to know that without you, there would have not been any Stompin’ Tom.

It was a long hard bumpy road, but this great country kept me inspired with its beauty, character, and spirit, driving me to keep marching on and devoted to sing about its people and places that make Canada the greatest country in the world.

I must now pass the torch, to all of you, to help keep the Maple Leaf flying high, and be the Patriot Canada needs now and in ...

What's keeping me motivated at the gym!

Posted By: Aiko Iwashita · 2/28/2013 10:31:00 AM

Since the end of November I started a new exercise regimen ... due to a change in my schedule I needed to find a gym closer to my home and something that worked with my hours ... sound familiar?  It's a problem for a lot of us, how do we find the time to workout.

So I joined Stoney Creek Crossfit and I am loving it.  I gotta say it's the reason why I am still motiviated to working out.  I also love it because no matter what fitness level you are you fit in.  It's not about comparing yourself to others, it's about your self accomplishments.  I am motivated to do better than I did my last class.

Here's an example of the most elite Crossfitters in the world.  Here's a clip from last years Crossfit games.  Do I ever think I could be at this level ... NO!!!  ...

I AM getting STRONGER!

Posted By: Aiko Iwashita · 1/21/2013 11:29:00 AM
Tangible evidence that I AM getting stronger.  I had to changed the water cooler bottle at work today ... which I hate, let's face it those water bottles are heavy and awkward to maneuver.
But ... I was so excited to see that I changed the water bottle with totally ease ... I simply lifted the bottle up and onto the cooler ... no problem!
I started CrossFit one month ago and I can say that I totally feel so much stronger.  I did a 5RM deadlift of 155 lbs the other day!
Loving CrossFit so much.  I'm working on being able to do a pullup .... lol .... this will take me a while to complete, but hey it's a goal!
