The Punisher Adventure Race

Was I ready to get punished?  Well ... no ... but is anyone 'ready' to be punished?  So a while ago I found out about this 5k obstacle race up at Christie Lake Conservation area and I was, yeah that sounds like fun, lets do it!  Fast forward to race day and I was second guessing myself.  When I signed up I had 5 weeks to train ... but when it came down to it, I didn't train.  I hadn't run 5k in months and I didn't feel that strong.  Anyway despite my lack of training I thought to myself just have fun!  LOl ... fun right!

Well I did have fun, a lot of fun actually!  The day started off HOT and HUMID and  it was a bad allegery day but as soon as I heard go, I knew there was no turning back.  When I've run 5k's before it's always been on pavement...this time I was running on fields which were very bumpy and trails, much harder than running on the sidewalk!  So the 5k in itself was an experience.  My allergies were really acting up as I was running in fields that were cut a day or two earlier, so I was running in fields with a layer of dry grass on top ... killer, not to mention one of the obstacles which was a 20 foot hay stacks!  I'm allergic to grass, trees, hay, weeds, everything!  LOL!!

So after running through fields, dry grass, mud pitts, hurtles, balance beams, tires, cargo nets ... I came out alive and happy!  It was so much fun!  Going into this race I had 2 goals #1 to finish in under 1 hour and #2 to not be last, I accomplished both goals!

Here are my numbers:

Time: 44:48. 1st place guy ran it in 23:07...crazy!

Out of 300 participants I came in 167

Females over 30, I was 62 out of 96 and 83 out of 124 females.

My goal for next years race is to beat these numbers!! Cheers to challenging ourselves everyday ;)
